ShredFest - February 20, 2010
33 skaters came out for our 1st event on the new section here at Warp. The beginners were here to skate this month and Ethan Martin stood out by only 2/10 of a point over Kevin Fox for his 1st ShredFest win. The Intermediate division was 10 skaters with Danny Beauchamp getting bumped up to the expert division with 2 amazing runs that were on an expert level. Luke Doherty stepped it up to win the division. Grant Katula was less than 1/4 a point from a skate off and took 2nd place. Alex Herman also tossed some big hammers to pull down 3rd place. And Props go to Brad Olson who came to skate with a sprained ankle and still attempted the big rail in both his runs.
The Expert division was a mix of the usual suspects. The crew from Circus came again and brought a killer level of competition to our contest. Ozzy coming in cold with no warm up time at all and had 2 amazing runs for the win. A kickflip to 5-0 on the step up hubba and a tech run that was just a clinic on flip tricks and rail slaying. Mike Matzuka who slammed on his last trick of his second run that was also amazing with a huge assortment of rail tricks and his huge 16 foot 5-0 grind over the qtr pipe and bank into the new qtr pipe. Amazing!! And young gun Jason Siebert had 2 amazing runs that were also a clinic of tech skating anyone would love to witness. MAD PROPS TO BEAVER who may have just completed his finest work to date here at warp. The new section seems very well received by skaters of every level. And a huge THANK YOU to CHAZ ORTIZ who was in the house all day and judged the entire contest. Thank you Chaz and Good Luck at the Tampa Pro next month.
